NEOMED recognized by veterans' group during IUC event

NEOMED President John Langell, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A, represented the University at the Inter-University Council Military Connected Student Symposium at the Ohio Statehouse in June. Dr. Langell introduced keynote speaker Major General Matthew Woodruff, Ohio’s 84th Adjutant General.

During the symposium, NEOMED received an award for Excellence in Programming from the National Veterans Leadership Foundation for 2026. The award, presented by The Honorable Mike Duffey, chancellor, Ohio Department of Education (pictured, right), celebrates institutions whose programs exemplify outstanding support for military-connected students.

NEOMED was recognized for designing and developing a secure Purple Star Military Lounge to foster camaraderie and community along with programming such as recruiting events. The University also showed its commitment to veterans by entering an innovative and collaborative agreement with U.S. Service Academies for their graduates to attend the NEOMED College of Medicine for their medical education.
