QPR Training for Suicide Prevention

Interested in trying to help save a life? Sign up for QPR Training!

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. QPR is an evidence-based practice that relies on training participants as gatekeepers. NEOMED has a cohort of faculty and staff that have been trained in how to provide this training to members of our campus community.

A gatekeeper can be anyone who is in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone – anyone - may be contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers only need to be trained in QPR, not have any specific background, degree, or job and can use their training to help anyone – a student, colleague, friend or family member.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life

QPR training is voluntary for employees. Training sessions will be held over Zoom and limited to 15 participants per session given the topic and training design. NEOMED is offering QPR training to employees on a variety of dates, so sign up at a time convenient to you and learn how to save a life.

Student training options will be forthcoming.
