The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) is now accepting medical student scholarship applications for 2019. The AMEF was formed by the physician leadership of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) more than 50 years ago. Since its inception, AMEF has granted more than $1.5 million in scholarships to qualified students.
Medical students who are currently in their third or fourth year of medical school and who meet the following criteria will be considered by AMEF members as possible scholarship recipients. Complete information, including the accompanying application and a copy of a current transcript, must be received no later than January 31, 2019. Applications must be mailed directly to AMEF and received by 1/31/19; please allow ample time to deliver by the deadline.
AMEF scholarship eligibility criteria:
- AMEF awards scholarships each year to third- and fourth-year medical students (MD/DO) that are or were residents of Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, or Summit counties, and who demonstrate an interest in organized medicine, leadership skills, community involvement and academic achievement.
- AMEF scholarships will be awarded to third- and fourth-year medical students attending the following colleges: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of CWRU, Northeast Ohio Medical University, and Ohio University College of Medicine.
Announcement of the scholarship grants awarded will be made following the official announcement of all awardees in the AMCNO’s Northern Ohio Physician magazine in 2019 (typically the May/June or July/August issue). Students will receive their scholarships 4-6 weeks following the announcement of their award.
