Amy Acton Speaks Out

Since resigning from her job as director of the Ohio Department of Health in June, Amy Stearns Acton (’90), hadn’t given any media interviews – until approached by a writer for The New Yorker.

The lengthy article, published Nov. 2, is titled, “How America Can Avoid Dual Cataclysms.”

Its author, Paige Williams, said, “She agreed to talk to me because she believes that, as we enter a dire pandemic phase, paired with a potentially tumultuous post-election period, the country needs, in its wellness ‘playbook,’ a long-term emotional-survival strategy.”

Dr. Acton was last on the NEOMED campus Sept. 9, when she received an honorary degree and visited with NEOMED students.
