Jim Barrett Appointed Interim Associate Executive Director of Enrollment Services

I am pleased to announce the appointment of James (Jim) Barrett as interim associate executive director of enrollment services and director of admissions, effective September 1. In this role, Mr. Barrett will provide oversight and leadership for the Office of Enrollment Services, including admissions, financial aid and the registrar. Mr. Barrett joined NEOMED in 2014 as director of admission, a role he will continue to hold in addition to his interim assignment.

While at NEOMED, Jim has collaborated with executive leaders and faculty in the College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy to significantly revise and improve admission procedures. In the College of Medicine (COM), he recently worked with the COM Admissions Committee to strategically transform admission practices to a holistic process focused on student academic success, situational judgement, and social responsibility for the field of medicine. In the College of Pharmacy (COP), he executes student admission and marketing initiatives to enhance COP’s competitive profile in a declining national market.

Prior to NEOMED, Mr. Barrett was vice president for the direct marketing division at Noel-Levitz, an industry leader in technology-enabled services, software and consulting for higher education enrollment management and fundraising. He also served as associate vice president for new student enrollment at Hiram College and as director of admission at Slippery Rock University and Kent State University, Stark Campus.

Please join me in giving your support to Jim and his team during this interim assignment.

Richard Kasmer, Pharm.D., J.D.
Vice President for Academic Affairs
