A panel discussion about the lack of Black male physicians, the systemic barriers preventing Black men from entering the field, and personal reflections on racism took place Tuesday, Feb.23, in a virtual event hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The discussion followed an earlier screening of the new documentary film Black Men in White Coats.
Mary Massie-Story, M.D., the director of integrated pathways and director of Student Health Services, moderated the conversation to explore the experiences of three Black male physicians, two of them NEOMED alumni: Duane Taylor, M.D. (’85), Stephen Campbell, M.D. (’16), and George Ilodi, D.O.
Members of the virtual audience asked the panelists questions, too.
