Campus Honored Nationally by Arbor Day Foundation

Congratulations to NEOMED’s Campus Operations team, led by director Dale Hluch, for taking NEOMED to its fourth consecutive win of 2020 Tree Campus Higher Education® Recognition from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The award is made to colleges and universities “for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.”

Hluch credited his team, noting, “A special thanks to Jerry Bergstrom  for all his efforts getting trees planted and supervising our tree care plan.” Bergstrom is Campus Operations’ Physical Plant Services supervisor and is in charge of all the campus grounds.

According to a press release, NEOMED met the Foundation’s standards of maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning project.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a million-member nonprofit conservation and education organization with the mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.
