With deep sadness, the NEOMED community mourns the passing of alumna Carol Blanchong Sutliff, M.D. (’93). Dr. Blanchong died on July 8, at the age of 49. A pediatric oncologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Dr. Blanchong was dedicated to her church and to volunteering at her community’s Ronald McDonald House and at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. After graduating from NEOMED, Dr. Blanchong completed a residency at The Ohio State University Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, followed by a three-year fellowship at Duke University, The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
A memorial service was held on July 11, in Granville, Ohio, to celebrate Dr. Blanchong’s life.
