Celebrating the Year of the Ox for Lunar New Year

This year, Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association's (APAMSA) Lunar New Year celebration went virtual! APAMSA kicked off Lunar New Year celebration with a story slam featuring five story-tellers (Katherine Wu, Vincent Pham, Gordon Hong, Thomas Scott, and club advisor and NEOMED professor Dr. Amy Lee). Each participant shared their experiences of the holiday and what it means to them. After tallying up votes, attendees crowned Thomas Scott, M2, as the winner of this year's story slam with Vincent Pham as runner-up. Afterwards, Alex Tang flexed his Lunar New Year knowledge during the Kahoot! Lunar New Year Trivia.

Additionally, this year, APAMSA has been collaborating with its community partner, Asian Services in Action (ASIA), to help with their refugee tutoring program. This program assists local middle school and high school students who are refugees with homework help and tutoring. Coming up, APAMSA is looking forward to helping ASIA's mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics. If anyone is interested in these volunteering opportunities, please contact Katherine Rodriguez krodriguez1@neomed.edu or Jessica Chang jchang@neomed.edu.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped APAMSA reign in the Year of the Ox!
