College of Medicine Student Presents Wellness Topics at National Conference

Third-year College of Medicine student, Rachana Raghupathy, co-led a session with Dr. Jacob Peoples at the American College of Physicians Future I.M. Experience National Meeting on May 14, 2021. The session was entitled, “Normalizing Mental Health Conversations: Creating a Positive Learning Environment for Physicians-In-Training” and discussed the need for mental health awareness and advocacy amongst medical trainees.

“It was an amazing experience,” says Raghupathy. “When we were designing our session objectives, I learned just how common mental health struggle is amongst us trainees, and it’s amazing to me how we don’t talk about this more. I hope this session inspired students and residents across the country to have tough (albeit necessary) conversations about trainee mental health and recognize its place in medical education.”

Rachana Raghupathy serves on the American College of Physicians (ACP) Council of Student Members, student representative to the ACP Physician Well-being and Professional Fulfillment Committee, and Chair-Elect to the Ohio ACP Council of Student Members.
