College of Medicine Student Seizes Global Opportunity

First-year medicine student Megan Bennett will be the first NEOMED student to participate in an international experience program through Kent State University. Bennett will attend the Florence Summer Institute in Florence, Italy this summer along with students and faculty from Kent State and other universities.

Bennett will take two classes during her time in Florence, “The Genius of Florence” and “Feasts and Plagues: the Science of Italian Food, Wine and Disease.” She will also shadow George Benaim, an internationally-recognized nephrologist, in his Florence practice.

The experience will also be partially funded through a Burger King travel scholarship, which she earned as an employee of the fast-food chain.
