College of Pharmacy Student Named to National Committee

Congratulations to fourth-year College of Pharmacy student Sara Bonenfant, who was recently elected as chair of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee.

The ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee is made up of five student members who are appointed by the ASHP president.

“Through my role as the Pharmacy Student Forum chair, I have the privilege to sit on ASHP’s House of Delegates. A lot of people don't know that the House of Delegates exists. They propose policies, then all of the delegates vote or amend these policies. Once these policies are in place, we can go to our legislators at the Capitol and say ASHP, a nationally recognized pharmacy association, supports this policy,” says Bonenfant.

Bonenfant (pictured second from right) most recently served as the committee’s vice chair during the 2018-2019 academic year. She has also served as the president of NEOMED’s Student Society of Health-System Pharmacist chapter.

“Joining SSHP opened up so many windows for me to get involved, develop leadership skills and communication skills, and grow my network. I know everyone in pharmacy has heard that pharmacy's a small world, but being a part of an organization like SSHP gets you even more involved with the state and national level,” says Bonenfant.
