I am pleased to announce that Dr. John Crow has been appointed to the position of Chair of the Department of Surgery for the NEOMED College of Medicine. Dr. Crow graduated from NEOMED in 1985 and became a member of the surgical faculty in 1992 after completing a residency in General Surgery at Loyola in Chicago followed by fellowships in Pediatric ECMO and Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Memorial in Chicago. He joined the staff of Akron Children’s Hospital in 1992 where during his tenure he has served as the Director of Trauma Services, the Associate Director of the Burn Unit, and currently serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery. In 2010 he was promoted to the faculty rank of Clinical Professor of Surgery and was appointed the interim Chair of Surgery at NEOMED in August, 2014.
