External Scholarship: M4 URiM Rotation Scholarship

The Society of University Otolaryngologists is granting $2,000 scholarships for 2 URiM M4 students to do an away rotation.

The applications are due by May 15.

Requirements:

Current medical student in M3 year in good standing at LCME approved U.S. and Canadian medical school

Applicant identifies as a student URiM as defined by the AAMC. "Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population."

Student cannot combine this award with other Otolaryngology URiM travel awards

VSLO (Visiting Student Learning Opportunities, formerly VSAS) requirements per the rotating institution.

A short essay about your experience following your rotation (up to 500 words) that may be used in the SUO communications newsletter, due one month after rotation.

Two-thirds of scholarship funds will be disbursed before the start of your chosen rotation. We will require an email confirmation from the clerkship director. The remainder of the funds will be disbursed at the completion of the rotation.

Each applicant will be paired with a SUO Diversity Committee mentor; with a goal to assist all applicants in their journey towards residency.
