Health and Wellness at NEOMED HR Update

Dear NEOMED Community:

In response to campus updates and as we begin a new fiscal year, we’d like to provide an update related to NEOMED’s Wellness Programming, highlighting new offerings and changes.

This benefit plan year, NEOMED transitioned from a self-funded insurance plan to a fully insured program with SummaCare. As part of this new partnership, SummaCare has broadened our wellness offerings, providing some new resources while also partnering with our current wellness programming. As a brief overview of our overall Wellness programming, we now offer WebMD Health Manager, Telehealth services through Teladoc, health coaching, care coordination, diabetes care, Monthly Grab & Go Education, Sequoia Nutrition Talk segments, cooking demonstrations with Chef Xavier, Perfectly Imperfect Produce, Coffee and Conversations, and of course our Summer of Wellness programming. Please follow the links below for more information about the wellness offerings.

For those who log wellness activities via the portal, we’re pleased that in-person activities have resumed and are included in our Summer of Wellness campaign. We continue to offer virtual opportunities for convenience and comfort to accommodate everyone. Participation is being recognized with weekly prize drawings followed by an overall drawing at the end of the campaign. Watch your email for weekly activities sent to you by the NEOMED Wellness team. We are also holding quarterly drawings to recognize overall participation on a quarterly basis. Note that due to IRS regulations, most prizes will have a taxable value which will be handled via payroll.

As an additional convenience for participants, annual inclusivity in the program will no longer require submission of the Wellness Assessment form. While an annual well visit is still required, no form is needed, rather SummaCare will provide confirmation that a well visit was completed and credit/points will be given to participants based on that confirmation.

Finally, the health and well-being of our staff remains a priority for NEOMED. Remaining vigilant with preventative care visits is extremely important to keep our employee population healthy and thriving. Without preventative care, illnesses and surgeries could increase, which would impact our healthcare premiums. Our transition to SummaCare resulted in a yearly cost savings of over $800 on average for our employees. Due to this additional savings, the wellness discount will be discontinued as of July 1, 2021. Anyone currently receiving the discount will have their deduction updated to reflect the non-discounted rate for their coverage level. Please reference your enrollment confirmation for that amount.
