I Am Diversity Project Invites Participants

The members of our diverse NEOMED family have many wonderfully unique qualities. That’s why we want to give you an opportunity to showcase who you are in a project for all to see and appreciate, called I Am Diversity. In keeping with the University’s strategic plan, the I Am Diversity project builds upon our ongoing efforts to embrace, engage, include and celebrate our entire NEOMED community.

This will be the second in a series focusing in different years on a variety of inner and outer dimensions of diversity. The 2020-21 edition will focus on the theme of ethnicity, which can be defined as an inherited identity based on a shared cultural heritage, ancestry, history, homeland, language or religion. Videos, banners and an I Am Diversity digital photo book will be used to highlight participants.

The digital photo book will be designed to reflect the breadth and depth of NEOMED’s ethnic diversity. Because images tell just the visual part of the story, we’ll also include text about “who they are” to complement the images.

You’re Invited

The success of the I Am Diversity photo book depends greatly on participants who are willing to celebrate their uniqueness while educating others and helping them to challenge their assumptions. Many have joined us for this project, and we have room for more.

We invite you to participate and to answer this question: How does your ethnicity shape your worldview?

Participants will sign up for individual photo sessions carried out following all COVID-19 precautions taken at NEOMED, including face coverings and social distancing. The sessions will take place in the coming weeks, and scheduling will begin soon.

If you are interested, please respond by Monday, Oct. 12, to Jacqueline Fausnight, M.Ed., associate director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, at jfausnight@neomed.edu. Be sure to include your ethnicity and your primary role (or title) at NEOMED in your response.
