G Building Faculty & Staff,
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning a back flow preventer (plumbing device) failed and hundreds of gallons of water was released in the G building penthouse. Much of that water came through small openings in the floor and rained down on I.T. network gear below as well as several offices.
The network switch for G building is non-functional. Ron McGrady and the I.T. Department are working on a temporary solution. There is no phone service, no desktop computers, and no WiFi in G building.
If you have a laptop, you can relocate to another area of the campus and login to the University’s WiFi. If you only use a desktop computer, I.T. is making arrangements for RDEC to be available for your use.
Email updates will be forthcoming as more information is known about the status of the G building switch replacement.
Thank you for your cooperation.
