Ignite magazine wins American Advertising Foundation awards

Ignite magazine recently won four American Advertising Awards from the Akron, Ohio chapter of the American Advertising Foundation. The Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 issues each won a gold award in the category of Entire Magazine Design. Another gold award was presented for the cover and three editorial spreads from the Spring 2018 issue, while a silver award went to the magazine’s cover and three editorial spreads from the Fall 2018 issue. The gold winners will advance to a multi-state district round of the competition.

Scott RutanScott J. Rutan (pictured at right) is the publication designer and Elaine Guregian is the editor of Ignite. The University magazine is published twice a year by the Office of Marketing and Communications, led by Roderick L. Ingram, Sr., executive director. Illustrations for the magazine are commissioned from artists with affiliations at NEOMED partner schools, such as The University of Akron (UA) and Kent State University. Both of the winning covers were created by artist Dave Szalay, an associate professor at the UA Myers School of Art.
