Effective July 1, Jesse Zampedro has been promoted to assistant director of the Office of Environmental Health & Occupational Safety (EOHS) within the Department of Campus Operations. Jesse has inherited a full-time task of fielding COVID-19 calls for information as well as assisting in the process of contact tracing. He works hand in hand with Joseph Zarconi, M.D., NEOMED’s medical director for COVID-19 response, to document COVID-19 reporting and offer advice to all those who reach out to him.
Not only has Jesse taken on extra duties, he is doing this without the help of his replacement as safety manager. Currently, his replacement is unconfirmed, so Jesse is performing multiple jobs.
Jesse began his career at NEOMED in 2016, coming from a large pharmaceutical company. He immediately created a very methodical approach for testing eyewash stations, safety showers, lab hoods and many other lab instruments and equipment in order to keep our researchers, lab techs and campus operations personnel safe.
