At NEOMED, we love acronyms! Do you recognize this one?
If you know what BeST (pronounced Best) stands for, congratulations! The mission of NEOMED’s Best Practices in Schizophrenia Treatment Center is to better the lives of those affected by schizophrenia through expert training, consultation and technical assistance to improve treatment practices.
The BeST Center isn’t a building that patients visit; it’s a resource. Led by BeST Center Director Patrice M. Fetzer, LISW-S, its staff members disseminate best practices throughout the state of Ohio. Information on the website is available for families of people with schizophrenia, too.
To promote recovery and improve lifestyles, the BeST Center places a focus on six BeST practices; FIRST Coordinated Specialty Care for First Episode Psychosis, Family-Based Services, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis, Integrated Primary and Mental Health Care, Pharmacotherapy for Schizophrenia, and Cognitive Enhancement Therapy.
