M1 Volunteers Needed for Miss Wheelchair USA!

Volunteering Opportunity!

Dr. Deb Plate has been involved with Miss Wheelchair USA over the past several years as their chief judge and medical director. It is a wonderful event that occurs in Cuyahoga Falls, OH!

It typically has live streamed each year and this year there is a surprise for all involved – where it will be taped to be played nationally – she can’t discuss details but it’s pretty exciting!

She is looking for perhaps a few female rising M2 students who might be interested in a week of community service! Typically, each year she asks for “production assistants” who are paired with a contestant for the week (young woman in wheelchairs) and it is really fun to watch the relationships form!

It’s a packed week – and the commitment starts from Sunday, July 10th through the following Sunday Morning. There are events every day all week long so expectation is that the assistant/volunteer would be present 10 a.m. into the evening with the actual performance from Thursday – Saturday evening and a breakfast on Sunday morning to send off the winner and all other participants!

If interested, please email Dr. Plate at PlateD2@ccf.org and include your name, year and medical pathway. This is a great opportunity to add to your CV!
