Mate M. Soric, Pharm.D., BCPS Named Chair of Pharmacy Practice

I am pleased to announce Mate M. Soric, Pharm.D., BCPS, has agreed to serve as chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, effective Oct. 1.

Dr. Soric has been a pivotal leader in various capacities in the College and University since his arrival in 2010. He began in a practice-based faculty role as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and a clinical pharmacy specialist at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. He also served as residency program director for the PGY1 and PGY2 residencies he established at the site. In 2015, he was promoted to associate professor of pharmacy practice. In 2017, he assumed a full time campus position serving as vice chair of practice-based research in pharmacy practice. Most recently, Dr. Soric served as acting chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Dr. Soric is an accomplished faculty member, recognized locally, regionally and nationally through his contributions to teaching, service and scholarship. He has consistently demonstrated strategic leadership, mentorship, and excellent teaching abilities to guide the faculty and ensure the success of department toward achieving College and University goals. In his faculty role, Dr. Soric received the Inaugural Junior Faculty Excellence Award in March 2013, he was the P4 Core Faculty Preceptor of the Year in 2014, and he was the recipient of the Class of 2019 Most Influential Professor Award.
