Minority Populations and Clinical Trials

Can a person be enrolled in a clinical trial without agreeing to it?

The answer is no, but health care professionals could do a better job of making that clear, says Research!America News. Between 2013 and 2016, there was an increase in those who responded “yes” in a national survey by Zogby Analytics for Research!America and the Association of Clinical Research Organizations.

Encouraging news from the same survey was that in 2016, fewer African-Americans, Hispanics and non-Hispanic whites said that a lack of trust stopped them from participating in clinical trials, compared with the 2013 survey results.
