The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion partnered with the Office of Student Services this year to co-sponsor its annual MLK Day of Service. With COVID-19 preventing typical on-site service projects, the NEOMED community pivoted in January and rallied behind an effort to collect toiletry and sanitation items to create care packages for local community members in need. With the help of student members of the Pulmonology and Critical Care Interest Group, Nuclear Medicine Club, and Nephrology and Endocrinology Interest Group, we were able to create 50 care packages that included a variety of toiletry items, handwritten notes of encouragement and community resource guides all inside reusable shopping tote bags! These care packages were distributed at the Skeels-Matthews Community Center in Ravanna this week. Both offices wish to thank all who donated and lent a helping hand to make this such a successful effort to make a difference in our local community!
