We’re rolling out the new Learning Management System (LMS), CANVAS this Fall 2021, beginning with your Online Orientation course to prepare you to matriculate to your next academic year! Each cohort will be invited to create a CANVAS account and to access their cohort-specific online orientation course which is now called “Navigate NEOMED!” Navigate NEOMED will guide you to everything you need to successfully sail through your transition from this year to next.
Look for a course email invitation addressed from aims@neomed.edu or notifications@instructure.com (you should receive two) and click on the “Get Started” button in either email. If you have not logged into your Microsoft Office account, you will be prompted to login using your NEOMED email and password. Once logged in via single sign-on you will be forwarded to the CANVAS Dashboard where you will need to accept both course invitations, one to the NavigateNEOMED course for your rising class (e.g. current M1 students will be in the M2 course), and the other for Passport to Canvas which will train you to use this system. Once you’ve accepted both course invitations, the NavigateNEOMED and Passport to Canvas course cards will be displayed on your dashboard. Click the NavigateNEOMED course card to enter the course and look for an email invitation to create the CANVAS account using single sign-on if you do not yet have an account. Then log into CANVAS to view your courses and look for the “Navigate NEOMED” course for your rising class. Then begin working on your required assignments to ensure your readiness and eligibility to be promoted to next year. Assignments are related to credentialing, registration, and college-specific responsibilities. We recommend that you start by going into “Modules” and begin working on the required credentialing and assignments. Finally, review and proceed to the optional “Recommended” assignments. Your first required assignment will be PASSPORT TO CANVAS so that you can become familiar with NEOMED’s new LMS!
