NEOMED Alumna Named Assistant Dean of Students, College of Medicine

The College of Medicine welcomes Corrie Stofcho, M.D. ('06), as its new assistant dean of students. Dr. Stofcho will oversee medical student affairs, including student advising and student progression; career advising; and mentoring students through the residency (Match) application process.

Dr. Stofcho has worked with students both in hospital settings and as a NEOMED faculty volunteer, acting as a fourth-year faculty advisor and specialty advisor for military students. As a pediatric hospitalist at Akron Children’s Hospital, she worked within the department of medical education, precepting both students and residents. Most recently, she served as a pediatric hospitalist at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital.

A proud alumna of NEOMED, Dr. Stofcho is the president of the NEOMED alumni board. As a NEOMED student, she was a U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program recipient. She completed a residency in pediatrics and served for six years in the Navy.

Dr. Stofcho succeeds Anita Pokorny, who retired in May.
