Our very own Chef Xavier (Smith) took top honors at the 10th Annual Vegan Iron Chef competition with his blackened tempeh and southern blue grits dish with spiced blue asparagus coulis. The event was held Thursday evening, May 10, at Canal Park in Akron, presented by Standing Rock Cultural Arts.
Despite literally dodging foul balls during the baseball game, Xavier produced a "Grand Slam" dish that was truly amazing and dynamic in visual appeal, creativity and taste. We can all be very proud to have such a talented executive chef on our team. He came through on Thursday with impressive results.
