Congratulations to Andre Burton, J.D. executive director of diversity, equity and inclusion at NEOMED, on being honored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Portage County Branch. Burton was presented an award at the annual Freedom Fund dinner, held Oct. 22.
The association, whose mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination, presented Burton with a Community Building Award. The program noted, “A great deal of the inclusive environment at NEOMED is a direct result of the efforts put forth by Andre.’’
Sonja Harris-Haywood, M.D., co-director of the NEOMED-CSU Partnership for Urban Health, was the evening’s speaker.
