NEOMED Shows Support for American Heart Association

Northeast Ohio Medical University was well-represented at the 2017 Akron Heart Walk, held Aug. 26, 2017 at the University of Akron. The Heart Walk is an annual fundraising event for the American Heart Association (AHA) with the goal to lower heart disease and stroke that occurs within the population by at least 20 percent by 2020.

Three teams represented Northeast Ohio Medical University at the Akron Heart Walk, with the team of Elisabeth Young, M.D. (’85) earning the most funds and having the most walkers present among the NEOMED teams. The NEOMED teams were comprised of 60 walkers and sponsors, which included students, staff, faculty and their families from the University, the College of Medicine, the College of Pharmacy and Bio-Med Science Academy. The teams helped raise $6,075 for the AHA.

While the Heart Walk may be over, the American Heart Association is still accepting donations to reach their $600,000 goal until September 10. Learn more about how to help the AHA with this important effort.
