Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (NEOSfN) membership drive

Calling all brain scientists!

  • Are you a neuroscientist?
  • Are you currently a student training to become a neuroscientist?
  • Do you work in or around the field of neuroscience?

If so, we want you to become a member of the NEOSfN!

Membership benefits

As member, you will be included in a multi-institution group of local, regional neuroscientists that gather together for networking and educational events. Also, NEOSfN provides access to graduate student and post-doctoral fellow travel award opportunities, as well as opportunities to participate in Brain Awareness outreach activities in our local community.

NEOSfN has sponsored events such as the NE Ohio Brain Bee Competition and the Brains on Tap community lecture series in Kent. Yearly, members gather at NEOMED’s NEW Center for our annual Poster Preview Session where faculty and students present research posters, network, and enjoy delicious free food catered by NEOMED’s fabulous Conference Services (and we always make sure a cash bar is available there too!) This year’s Poster Preview Session is scheduled for the evening of November 9, 2016.

Join for FREE!

We are waiving all membership dues for this membership drive so that anyone signing on for the 2016-2017 year joins for FREE! (Nominal membership dues are usually requested yearly for faculty [$10] and post-docs [$5] but students are always free).

How to join

There are two categories of membership; regular and student.

Regular members must hold an advanced degree, reside in Northeast Ohio, and be a member of SFN. Regular members are eligible to vote in elections for NEOSfN office and hold the elected positions of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, or council member.

Student members must be in an undergraduate, graduate, medical or pharmacy degree program and be sponsored by a Regular Member (such as your advisor). If you are in need of a Regular Member to sponsor you, I can sponsor you. Student members are eligible to vote in elections for NEOSfN officers but can only hold the elected position of council member.

**Note to existing members: In order to update our rosters, I request that existing NEOSfN members email me so they can be included as active members.

To join or re-enlist, email Christine Crish, Ph.D., vice president of the NEOSfN and assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at ccrish@neomed.edu.
