Promoting Cybersecurity on Campus and at Home

Co-led by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Agency, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) continues to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across the country. A primary goal of NCSAM is that everyone has the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. Now in its 17th year, this year’s theme, “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”, encourages individuals and organizations to own each of our roles in protecting our parts of cyberspace, emphasizing personal accountability, and the importance of taking proactive steps to improve cybersecurity.

On behalf of NEOMED’s Information Technology Department, we are excited to announce that throughout the month of October, we will be providing articles, webinars, and other resources to the University community as a part of NCSAM. Each week, we will be focused on a particular topic:

  • Week of October 5: If You Connect It, Protect It
  • Week of October 12: Securing Devices at Home and Work
  • Week of October 19: Securing Internet-Connected Devices in Health cCare
  • Week of October 26: The Future of Connected Devices

As a part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and our ongoing information security awareness efforts, NEOMED IT personnel will be conducting a free, reoccurring webinar throughout the month of October that provides an overview of what cybersecurity is, why we should care about it, types and examples of cyber attacks, and basic cybersecurity best practices. This webinar is intended for those who are unaware of what cybersecurity is, those simply curious about cybersecurity, or those who would like a basic refresher of cybersecurity.

Please follow The Pulse throughout the month of October to learn more about these weekly topics and to help further raise your cybersecurity awareness.
