Rashid Abdu, M.D., professor emeritus of surgery at NEOMED, will be honored as the keynote speaker at the Junior League of Youngstown’s annual Pink Ribbon Tea. Dr. Abdu is prominent in the Youngstown medical community as an advocate for breast cancer awareness and access to treatment. Following his wife, Joanie’s, diagnosis in 1993, he was moved to action by the hardships caused by barriers and delays the couple encountered while seeking the treatments she needed.
