Rootstown Community Pharmacy Promotes Hand Hygiene

Members of NEOMED are doing their part during the COVID-19 pandemic — whether it’s by staying at home or serving the community, like the team at Rootstown Community Pharmacy.

Hannah Cross, Pharm.D. (’13), pharmacist-in-charge at Rootstown Community Pharmacy, and her team are hoping to flatten the curve by encouraging proper hand hygiene.

Rootstown Community Pharmacy worked with a contract manufacturer to secure a large shipment of 60 ml bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which will be available while supplies last, beginning Wednesday, April 1.

“Hand hygiene is one of the easiest and most important things that we can do to help stop the spread of all kinds of organisms, including the coronavirus. Unfortunately it is not always possible to wash your hands with soap and water, and hand sanitizer is not easy to come by. We want to do everything we can, and saw an opportunity to help with the hand sanitizer shortage that we have all been facing,” says Dr. Cross.

The Pharmacy has reserved its first hour of business (8-9 a.m.) for pharmacy pick-up and shopping for customers who are elderly and high-risk.

Regular pharmacy hours are 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
