As we approach the July 4th holiday, the Department of Public Safety reminds you to be safe during your holiday celebrations. The use of consumer fireworks results in thousands of fires and injuries each year. Few people understand the risks associated with consumer fireworks. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has developed a fireworks safety tip sheet as well as educational videos that demonstrate the risks associated with consumer fireworks. The Department of Public Safety also reminds you not to drink and drive. If you drink, have a designated driver or utilize a ride sharing service. Law enforcement agencies increase traffic enforcement during the July 4th holiday in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road. Remember, Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.
