April 28 is Arbor Day—but Dale Hluch has plans for NEOMED that go far beyond a single day’s celebration of trees. NEOMED’s director of campus operations is working to "re-tree" the campus, in recognition of the role that the environment plays in wellness. Hluch’s team is working to save the white ash trees in the University’s courtyard from the well-documented devastation of the Emerald Ash Borer.
Hluch is also working toward gaining Tree Campus USA designation for NEOMED. The program was designed by the national Arbor Day Foundation to help colleges and universities establish and sustain healthy community forests. Stay tuned!
