Statewide Press Club Contest Recognizes Ignite

At an awards presentation dinner June 1, the Fall 2017 issue of Ignite was announced as the winner of second place for Best Trade Publication in Ohio in the 2018 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards of the Press Club of Cleveland. The Spring 2017 issue of Ignite was the winner of third place in the same category. The announcement was inadvertently omitted from the contest program.

Ignite magazine was honored in seven different categories for its writing, design, cover art and overall excellence in the annual statewide Press Club contest. Joseph Zarconi, M.D., professor and chair of internal medicine and interim associate dean for health affairs in the College of Medicine, won second place in the category of Single Essay for With Justice for All: Medical Education, Post-Freddie Gray.” The awards dinner was held at the House of Blues in Cleveland.

More than 750 entries were received for this year’s contest, which included categories of daily newspapers, business publications, trade publications, general circulation magazines, digital media and more. Winners were judged by Press Club members from throughout the U.S.

Ignite magazine is produced twice each year by the Office of Public Relations and Marketing. Elaine Guregian is its editor.
