With the addition of physicians Laura Barr, M.D., and Alicia Bond, M.D., Student Health Services has expanded its hours to offer services five days a week. The two new physicians join Mary Massie-Story, M.D., who has provided patient care since Student Health Services opened in November 2020.
Laura Barr, M.D.
After earning a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Barr completed family medicine training at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in Boise, Idaho.
Dr. Barr currently works at Spring Haven Counseling center in rural Wayne County, where she integrated a medical practice into a mental health facility that serves the Amish. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and completed the Primary Care Transformation and Enhancement faculty development fellowship in 2019. She currently co-leads two reflective practice groups. Along with Dr. Barr’s appointment at Student Health Services, she also joins the Department of Family and Community Medicine as clinical content expert for the M1 Gastroenterology, Reproduction and Endocrinology course.
Dr. Barr will provide patient care to students on Wednesday afternoons.
Alicia Bond, M.D. (’16)
Since January 2020, Dr. Bond has been part of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and has served as health director for the Student Run Free Clinic at NEOMED. As the clinic’s health director, she has the responsibility for overseeing all aspects of patient care. She also guides and directs the activities of students in the clinic and represents it in community initiatives and programming.
After graduating from NEOMED in 2016, Dr. Bond completed a family medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General.
Dr. Bond will provide patient care on Mondays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
