Students and Staff Spend Day Serving Others

NEOMED’s annual Spring Day of Service, May 12, inspired nearly 50 students and staff members to spend a portion of their Saturday volunteering at social services agencies and institutions across Northeast Ohio, including Portage Park District, Summa Health, HandsOn Northeast Ohio, Habitat for Humanity of Portage County, Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities and Second Harvest Foodbank of the Mahoning Valley.

Among the six locations, volunteers served for a total of 138 hours to give back to the University’s surrounding communities.

Fun fact: The nine volunteers at Second Harvest Foodbank of the Mahoning Valley bagged 556 bags of yams for families in need, totaling 2,780 pounds of yams!
