Last week our students from SOAR Student Run Free Clinic and OutReach attended the Society of Student Run Free Clinics (SSRFC) Conference in Anaheim, CA along with over 600 students from free clinics across the country. The conference was put on in conjunction with the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Our students spent time listening to presentations about what other clinics are doing, discussing ideas, and gaining information to take back to our clinic! Students learned about grant writing, labs and funding, fundraising initiatives, quality improvement projects, free clinic consulting groups, community outreach, education classes, a student run free veterinary clinic, and so much more! It was great to hear what other clinics are doing and we will use these ideas to improve our efforts at SOAR SRFC. Our students also put on one workshop, gave two oral presentations, and presented three posters. They were well attended and other students were very impressed and interested in what we are doing at SOAR. Dr. Boltri was elected treasurer of the Society of Student Run Free Clinics Faculty Board. We are so proud of our students and faculty for sharing their work and getting involved on a national level. Congrats team!
