Sue Bruce Accepts New Role

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the upcoming departure of Sue Bruce, Pharm.D., senior associate dean of education. Dr. Bruce has accepted a much-deserved opportunity to serve as dean at Wingate University School of Pharmacy in Wingate, North Carolina.

Dr. Bruce has been a pivotal member of NEOMED’s College of Pharmacy, serving for 11 years as chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She was also associate dean for pharmacy education and interprofessional studies for four years before assuming her most recent role as senior associate dean.

Dr. Bruce’s contributions during her time here are noteworthy. Among them: She built NEOMED’s Department of Pharmacy Practice, including the hiring of faculty, designing a progressive curriculum, creating a department that fosters innovation and collaborating with the administrative team to launch a high-quality Doctor of Pharmacy program.

Dr. Bruce’s ability to lead and innovate are most evident in her team’s results. From the implementation of interprofessional education (IPE) at our origins to the design of Curriculum 2.0 and the overhauling of our face-to face instruction ― in just 24 hours due to COVID-19 ― there are many proof points of a job well done.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at NEOMED and it was a difficult decision to walk away from this team. I am humbled by and excited for the opportunity at Wingate,” says Dr. Bruce.

As we thank her for being such a great team member of the NEOMED community and the College of Pharmacy, we wish her well in her new role as dean.

Dr. Bruce will begin her new role at Wingate University in January and will remain at NEOMED through the fall.
