The Summer of Wellness is well under way and HR would like to provide guidance as it relates to timecard processing.
The Summer of Wellness hours are based upon campus business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and we are fortunate to be able to close campus at 3:00 p.m. to provide employees with the opportunity to utilize those two hours to participate in activities to improve their wellness. Given that intent, the utilization of those two hours may fluctuate depending on the employee’s schedule so that they receive the extra two hour benefit, but those two hours should only be utilized on the Fridays that take advantage of the Summer of Wellness hours. For example, an employee with a regular work schedule of 7:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. would leave at 2:00 p.m. on that Summer of Wellness Friday to enjoy the benefit. Additionally, employees are not able to ‘bank’ those hours and use them on another day or combine them to receive additional paid time off.
In terms of utilization of sick or vacation time, as employees are paid for a full 8 hour day during the Summer of Wellness, any employee that is utilizing sick or vacation time on a Friday during the Summer of Wellness is expected to utilize 8 hours of vacation or sick time.
