The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Welcomes Intern, Acacia Freeman!

Acacia Freeman will be interning in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion throughout the Spring 2021 semester. Some projects she will be working on include coordinating the distribution of holiday gifts with the Office of Human Resources, updating the online Interfaith Calendar, planning the Spring Diversity Awards Ceremony, and helping with various initiatives and campus-wide events throughout the semester.

Acacia is a first-year master’s student in the Higher Education Administration program at Kent State University. She currently serves as a graduate assistant for Student Success Programs at KSU. In this role, she has the privilege of working with many student leaders on the KSU campus.

Acacia graduated from Kent State University in May 2020 with a degree in Communication Studies. Throughout her undergraduate experience, she found many leadership positions that helped her gain experience in the field of higher education. She served as a Resident Assistant, EXCEL Mentor, Student Success Leader, Peer Leader Trainer, Tour Guide and more! Acacia instantly fell in love with the realm of higher education, and eventually found herself wanting to pursue a career in the field. A few functional areas she is interested in working with after graduation include multicultural affairs, education abroad, student leadership and Title IX.

Acacia has a huge passion for travel, creativity, photography, living life to the fullest, and of course...higher education! She is very excited to be working at NEOMED this semester and is looking forward to the experience!
