“Some of the strategies used in fighting conventional enemies are also used in the fight against pandemics, such as COVID-19,” says Lt. Col. Frederick Marquinez, who was serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when news came of the spreading threat.
Dr. Marquinez (’85) is also a medical oncologist/hematologist. Now back at his job with UH Seidman Cancer Center-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, he spoke recently about his experiences as a flight surgeon.
