With games, prizes and photo ops with university mascots, United Way of Portage County (UWPC) welcomed members of the community and campus to the NEW Center on Wednesday, Oct. 2, to launch its 2019-20 campaign and NEOMED’s United Way employee campaign.
Shown in photo, Lacey Madison and John Boltri, M.D., accept a UWPC donation to the SOAR Student-Run Free Clinic, operated on selected Saturdays by an interprofessional team of NEOMED medicine and pharmacy students for medically underserved residents of Northeast Ohio.
Former Cleveland Crunch star goalie Otto Orf accepted a gift for youth programs – another of the areas funded by United Way. Orf’s Hands On Sports Foundation recently hosted a Medical Supply Distribution Day, during which medical supplies were donated to free clinics in Ohio – including the SOAR Clinic.
The United Way NEOMED employee campaign runs through Oct. 9. Pledge forms are available in the Human Resources Suite; call x6729 with any questions.
