University closed Wednesday, Jan. 30

Dear NEOMED Community:

Our University will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30, as the National Weather Service has issued a WIND CHILL WARNING for portions of Northcentral and Northeast Ohio due to dangerously low wind chills (as low as 35 degrees below zero).

The warning remains in effect from 1 a.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday. We will provide updates regarding our closing status for Thursday, by 1 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Do not go outside unless absolutely necessary! If you must go outside, please make sure you wear a hat and gloves. If you must drive, please be aware that black ice (unrecognizable icy roads) is expected.

A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frostbite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.

When classes and normal business operations are canceled, some university services, e.g. campus operations, may remain open.

Please note that businesses within the NEW Center make their own decisions regarding closures. Please contact them directly with your questions.

Please stay safe, stay warm and stay inside.
