University’s Ignite Magazine Wins Award in Statewide Contest

Ignite magazine won second place in the category of Best of Show/Trade Publications in Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest, sponsored by the Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) chapters statewide. Cincy Magazine took first place.

The categories included large circulation print (60,000 or greater), small circulation print (fewer than 60,000), radio, television, digital media, trade organizations, freelance and college. Recognition was for work done in 2019 – namely, the Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 issues of Ignite.

Elaine Guregian is the editor and Scott J. Rutan is the publication designer of Ignite, which is published twice a year by the Office of Marketing and Communications, led by Roderick L. Ingram Sr., vice president of marketing and communications. Contributing editors are Ingram, along with marketing and communications staff members Samantha Hickey and Jared Slanina.

Fall issue available

The fall 2020 issue of Ignite covers themes of NEOMED’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and issues of racial injustice in the field of health care. Current and past issues of Ignite can be accessed free from issuu. 

Out of caution during the pandemic, hard copies have not been distributed in public spaces on campus. To arrange obtaining a hard copy, email marcom@neomed.edu.
