Update on Human Resources Institutional Survey

Andre Burton, interim vice president for human resources and diversity, provides an update on the Department of Human Resources survey distributed in October. Read the response from the President’s Office below.

Dear NEOMED Community,

In October 2018, you received a survey that requested feedback regarding your experiences with the Department of Human Resources at NEOMED. Your collective response was tremendous with 43 percent of staff and faculty participating in the survey. Our goal is to become a more service-oriented and consultative human resources department, so we thank you so much for your willingness to provide the University with valuable insight about our human resources services.

Upon initial review of the qualitative responses, the University identified a need for conducting an independent, comprehensive assessment of the state of our Human Resources Department by an external third party. Utilizing an external partner will help the University identify gaps relative to best practices, realize recommended strategies for developing and implementing structural and operational improvements and create a service-oriented culture ― all of which align with University goals.

As a result, NEOMED has engaged Sibson Consulting, a nationally recognized human resources consultant that specializes in work with higher education institutions, to conduct an organizational and operational assessment of the human resources function. The human resource consultant will strategize with the Office of Human Resources and Diversity, as well as provide recommendations for making organizational and operational improvements.

We look forward to reporting back on the next steps with the consultant.

Thanks again for your interest and feedback.

Andre Burton. J.D.
