Subject: Medical Student Sponsorships Available to Attend the OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update!

Dear Medical Students,

The Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF) is pleased once again to offer student sponsorships to attend the 2017 OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update. Registration is normally $100 for medical students, but this is an offer that will allow you to attend the event free of charge! Don’t delay, sponsorships are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Last year, 35 medical students from across Ohio attended the conference. We hope to increase that number, and we hope that you will join us!

As you are aware, the OPPA is Ohio’s branch of the APA (American Psychiatric Association). This year’s OPPA Annual Psychiatric Update: Mental Illness- Helping Ourselves, Our Colleagues, and Our Patients is on Sunday, March 12th at the Hilton Columbus at Easton. This year’s meeting includes a full line-up of excellent clinical presentations including: Youth Suicide and Bullying, Addressing Ohio’s Opioid Crisis, Postpartum Depression, and Physician Depression and Suicide. Complete program details and the full brochure can also be found at: http://www.ohiopsych.org/aws/OPPA/pt/sp/annualpsychupdate.

Students who attend will be paired with a psychiatrist for the day-long educational event (including lunch with your mentor). This is a great opportunity to gain additional exposure with psychiatry and to have an opportunity to interact with and be mentored by current professionals. (Attending the conference can also be added to your CV and residency application, and some students have discussed the conference when they are on the interview trail.) There will also be time designated during breakfast for medical students to meet with other Ohio medical students and learn from residents and others about psychiatry residency and career opportunities. After the meeting has formally ended, there will be time to meet with me to answer any questions that you might have.

A brief outline of the day:

Medical Student Breakfast- 8AM-8:55AM
Program: 8:55AM- 12:30PM
Lunch (seated with mentors): 12:30PM-1:45PM
Program: 1:45PM-4PM
Medical Student After-Meeting Meeting: 4PM

If you are interested in attending and would like to be considered for a sponsorship, then please complete and fax a registration form to: (614)481-7559; or email us at OPPFoundation@ohiopsych.org; or call us at (614)763-0040. Don’t delay, sponsorships are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Ryan Mast, DO, MBA Medical Student Recruitment Director Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF)
