Watch Your Mail for the 2020 Census

Every 10 years, the United States conducts a Census to determine how federal funding is allocated in our communities, including roads, education, mental health resources, school lunches and more.

Beginning March 12, residences across the United States will begin to receive invitations to respond to the 2020 Census — and that includes residents of The Village.

Why is this important?

If you don’t answer, you won’t be counted. And that matters, because Census counts influence congressional representation and funding for federal Pell Grants; adult education grants, agriculture, science and engineering education; student wellness programs, the Medical Assistance Program; community mental health services and more.

How to respond

The Census can be completed online, by phone or mail by using the Census ID code provided in the first initial mailing. Residents are encouraged to respond by April 1. More information can be found at my2020census.gov.

It’s confidential

Did you know? When you and your roommates respond to the Census, your personal information is kept confidential by law and your responses can only be used to produce statistics.

Below are examples of what the first Census mailing will look like. Keep an eye on your mailboxes!
