Watching Wasson Grow

NEOMED’s William G. Wasson, M.D., Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment, Scholarship and Interprofessional Education Services is preparing to expand and relocate by summer 2020.

The Wasson Center will be located on the second floor of the new Medical Office Building, which will be located in the northeast corner of the NEW Center and will also include the expanded Bio-Med Science Academy and a number of medical offices. Construction is expected to be completed by the start of the 2020-2021 academic year.

To prepare for the construction of the Wasson Center and in an effort to maintain a focus on student and faculty academic needs, the Wasson Center team surveyed and convened task force meetings with its stakeholders and representatives across the University including faculty, staff, first- and second-year representatives of NEOMED Student Council, Wasson Center standardized patients, course directors, curriculum coordinators and community partners who participate in activities within the Wasson Center.

As the Medical Office Building groundbreaking approaches, here are a few things to know:

  • the current Wasson Center will remain in operation throughout the 2019-2020 academic year
  • the new location will nearly double the size of the current Wasson Center
  • the expanded Wasson Center facilities will aid in meeting a growing demand for training of health care professionals from NEOMED and across Northeast Ohio
